Nicks 1st pitching start this year

SHARPSVILLE -- Ryan DeBoy's three-run home run in the top of the fifth capped the scoring in the Class A No. 5 Knights' rout.

Devin Morgan went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and three runs scored for CC (4-1, 2-0 Hoosier Heartland Conference). Jake Churchill went 2-for-2 with a double and scored three times.

Nick Stone allowed three hits and struck out six for his first victory.

Nick said he went 1-2 at the plate also.

CC pitchers pitch no hitter

Central Catholic, Crawfordsville pitch no-hitters

Tuesday was no-hitter day for three Lafayette area pitchers.

Central Catholic's Austin Munn and Andrew Hubertz combined on a no-hitter in the Knights' 10-1 victory over Tri-Central.

Cory Rice was nearly untouchable, striking out 14 in Crawfordsville's 9-0, five-inning home victory over Tri-West.

Munn (1-0) had seven strikeouts for the Class A No. 5 Knights (3-1), who broke out of an early season slump with nine hits. Hubertz struck out the side in the seventh.

Jake Churchill was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Brett Haan was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including a two-run double in the fourth.

In the Crawfordsville victory, Rice (1-2) struck out the side in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings. He induced a groundout by Matt Pope in the third inning after hitting Mitch Alexander with a pitch. Rice also walked a batter.

Chris Minks hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning for Crawfordsville (3-3, 1-0 Sagamore Conference).

CC vs Twin Lakes

CC squeezes out victory

The Knights are 2-1 despite scoring three runs this season. CC scored without a hit in the second inning off Twin Lakes pitcher Jordan Crabb.

Nick Stone reached on an error and went to third when Crabb's pickoff throw was wild. One out later, Trae Bobillo laid down a suicide squeeze bunt that scored Stone.

Haan (2-1) struck out nine.
