Harrison’s baseball team was down to its final strike in its season opener against Central Catholic on Tuesday. But a two-out error in the bottom of the seventh allowed the tying and winning runs to score in the Raiders’ 3-2 victory.
Cody Slate, Payton Smith and Michael Carnahan all drew one-out walks against the Class A No. 3 Knights (1-1). One out later, Harrison leadoff man Joe Dinkle grounded a ball up the middle that got through CC second baseman Danny Anthrop and allowed two runs to score.
Slate earned the victory in relief of Vonn Richards, who allowed one earned run in five innings. Taylor Glaze took the loss for CC, despite allowing a run on four hits entering the seventh.
