Central Catholic trio blanks Rossville

Another Big Day for Nick & his Central Catholic Knights!!!

Three Central Catholic pitchers combined on a three-hitter Tuesday, and Nick Stone went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Class A No. 1 Knights to a 9-0 baseball victory over Rossville.

Winning pitcher Austin Munn struck out five and allowed two hits over four innings. Brett Haan allowed one hit in the fifth, and Trae Bobillo pitched shutout ball for the final two innings.

Jake Churchill also had two hits and Haan drove in two runs for CC.

Actually, the newspaper report is a bit incorrect. Nick was 2-2 at the plate, his 3rd at bat he reached on an error & it was scored as such. His 2 RBI's came off a triple on his 1st at bat that went deep into the right field corner & into foul territory by the time it hit and rolled.

Nick will start on the mound Friday against Delphi at Central Catholic. Delphi was runner up in the state finals last year at Victory Field in Indy.

Big Day for CC & Nick!@

Nick comes up big for Central Catholic on Saturday in a doubleheader against conference foe Carroll. A something like 72 game conference winning streak was on the line & in jeopardy in both games Saturday. The 1st game final was 1-0 in favor of CC & Nick. While getting in trouble several times he & his team bailed each other out on several occasions, especially a diving catch by Brett Haan on a deep fly to RC. Two great line drive catches by 1st baseman Ryan Deboy saved other possible damages. Nick left runners stranded at 2nd & 3rd by k'ing the last batter in the 7th.

The 2nd game saw an offensive onslaught by both teams that went back in forth. In desperation & in the 5th, Nick was brought in in the 5th, our 4th pitcher this game & with the game tied 10-10. He gave up a run (not his scored tho) & are now down 11-10 end of 5. We tie it in the 6th & in the 7th Nick puts us up 13-11 on a line drive down the 1st baseline, scoring 2 runs, he makes it to 2nd.

With 130+ pitches in the book thus far for the day & in the bottom of the 7th he allows a run and a runner & has 1 out. Austin Munn comes in and earns an "atta boy" from Nick, saving a 2nd win of the day.

Nick Stone pitched a four-hitter in the opener and then came back to earn the Game 2 victory in relief for the Class A No. 2 Knights.

Stone struck out 10 in Game 1 and CC got the only run it needed on Devin Morgan's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth.

Brett Haan went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and Jake Churchill homered and drove in three runs in a Game 2 that saw the teams combine for 23 hits and 11 errors.

Austin Munn, CC's fifth pitcher, got the final two outs to earn the save after Stone allowed a run and struck out two in two innings of relief.
